cost of medical school and living in houston texas?

cost of medical school and living in houston texas?
so i'm halfway through college right now in new york and i plan to apply to med school. i want to go to one in houston, texas so i can be close to my girlfriend who lives in houston. does anyone know how i can mange this? what is the general cost of medical school in texas and what is the cost of living? is it possible for a med student to hold a job and be able to concentrate on studies? if i decide not to work, does anyone know what kind of loan i would have to take out that would cover the 4 years of med school and assist me with living in a one bedroom apartment for 4 years? i hear that living in houston is very affordable, is that true? thanks for the advice.

The medical school in Houston, Texas is the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (http://www.uthouston.edu/) Since you will be moving to the state, you will have to pay nonresident tuition. The school offers this information: (http://sfs.uth.tmc.edu/fa_docs/student_budgets_0708.htm) For the first year, education costs of $26,539, living expenses approximately $18, 730 for a total of $45, 269. The totals for years 2, 3 and 4 are $46,422, $48,592 and $48.471. You will be doubling to cost of your education to be with your girlfriend. Med school is one of the more expensive schools to attend. It might be wiser if you girlfriend came to NY and if she isn't willing to do that....
