I'm going to major in philosphy. And i want to go to a school that is easy to commute to from Missouri City, Houston, Texas. Also, is it possible to go to any of the top ten schools law schools nationwide (i.e.- Harvard, Columbia, Yale) from a Texas school? Are do the admission officers notheavily factor the name of undergrad and its prestige in the equation?

Undoubtedly it's Rice University in Houston. Sure you can go to the top from Texas. Bush went to Yale and then to Harvard Business School. Yes, the prestige of the college is a factor in grad school admission.
